Hi, my name is Srikanth Parameswaran. I’m a doctoral candidate of Management Information
Systems at the University at Buffalo (UB), State University of New York (SUNY), School of Management. Before starting my Ph.D. in Spring 2012, I did an internship at Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, Catholic Health System, working on improving their computer-mediated employee internal communications, and improving their online presence, through social media. I received MS in Management Information Systems from the University at Buffalo, in 2011, and Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Anna University, in 2010. My expected Ph.D. graduation date is Summer 2017. I will be on the job market in Fall 2016. I am looking for a tenure-track position at a research-intensive organization. My Ph.D. thesis advisor is Dr. Rajiv Kishore.
My research focuses on technology adoption, social media, health information technology, and knowledge management. I focus on modeling adoption of technology innovations, user behavior in social media, technology-mediated health outcomes, and knowledge creation in the IS context. The core themes of my research are system design, social networks, user-generated content, and demographics. Some of the key contexts of my interest are online health communities, mobile technologies, cloud computing, and gaming. I use a variety of methodologies such as structural equation modeling, meta-analysis, econometrics, social network analysis, text mining, event study, discourse analysis and experimental design.
Two of my research papers have appeared in Information and Management, a top-tier journal. I have one paper published in Journal of Information Privacy and Security, a premier journal in the area of information security. I have presented my research at major conferences on information systems, including ICIS, AMCIS, WITS, WeB, and ASIA-SKM. I am the recipient of the Dean’s Ph.D. Rising Star Award 2014, which honors the first- or second-year doctoral student who has most exhibited exceptional early overall performance in the Ph.D. program. I am also the recipient of the Berner Award 2015 and 2016, for research excellence. Also, I have been a reviewer for the Journal of Strategic Information Systems and Information Systems Frontiers, and for conferences such as AMCIS, PACIS, and AOM Annual Meeting.
